Week 0 Pre-Training

It's hard to really set an actual start date for our running as we have all had challenges in getting into the London Marathon.

It began with Lissi. While everyone else was receiving the expected rejection emails, she had won the lottery. Since talking to so many people, almost everyone has a story of it taking X years of applying before they won the running lottery. Not Lissi, with her one shot wonder. She was in. And terrified!

After Weeman had managed to calm down, the realisation that he couldn’t let Lissi do this by herself settle in, and made the decision to apply for a charity place. After another lengthy application process, Weeman and Lissi decided to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. I cannot do justice for why this charity was so pivotal for Weeman and his family - you can read that story on the just giving page (shameless plug!), but suffice to say if Weeman was going to raise money for anyone, they were top of the list.

Then came Daz’s FOMO again! If everyone was going to run a marathon, he couldn’t miss out, and duly signed up to run Brighton marathon (purely for the medal). BUT, miracle of all miracles happened, and he managed, a large slice of luck, and a huge thankyou to the IDG department at the University of Warwick, to be given a place from TCS.

And so completes the how…. Training start in earnest on the 7th Jan.
